A piece of jewellery that is truly unique, made by the Nozomi Project in Japan.
‘Nozomi’ means 'hope' in Japanese. Founded in the wake of the 2011 earthquake and tsunami, the Nozomi Project is a social venture situated in Ishinomaki that trains and employs locals in jewellery making. Pottery that was destroyed in the earthquake is given new life by the artists who turn it into unique and special pieces of jewellery.
A simple and striking framed pendant with an engraved floral design on the back housing a ceramic fragment featuring a gorgeous peach ('momo') blossom. The chain and pendant are .999 silver plated.
Each piece embraces the Japanese philosophy of wabi-sabi: there is beauty to be found in the broken.
Very beautiful, and can be dressed up, or down.
