In Japanese folklore, bodies of water are often populated by mysterious creatures called Kappa who love to eat cucumbers! And so from there, kappamaki sushi got its name.
These coasters are woven from 'igusa' rush grass typically used to make tatami mats, and known for its durability and subtle fresh and grassy scent.
Produced by a traditional embroidery atelier in Kyoto.
