Shuro Small Broom with Bamboo
£45
Why should brushes and brooms be banished into hiding? This special brush is as much a display piece for the wall as a functional object. Put on show, it will soon become your favourite part of the home. A sparkling cleaning corner, if you will.
It’s made from shuro, aka soft woven palm fibres, bound together with a wooden handle. Since shuro is fine, it doesn’t damage surfaces and catches dust effectively. Shuro brushes are so durable they’ve become a household staple across Japan for cleaning floors, sweeping cars and wooden windowsills and removing pet hair from furniture.
Made entirely by the hands of the master craftsmen at Takada Tawashi in Wakamaya Prefecture, Japan. Takada Tawashi are one of the few remaining broom makers who have been operating since Japan’s Edo period.
