Tenugui are rectangular shaped cloths made in Japan with a myriad of everyday uses- as a washcloth, towel, muslin cloth, headband or for wrapping gifts. Made from 100% cotton, they can be knotted in many ways to create a variety of wraps and bags.

We think these tenugui are almost too good to use and can be framed or hung as artworks on the wall.

This one features a lovely smiling shiba amongst the cherry blossom.

100% cotton, 90cm x 34cm, made in Japan.

The long sides are finished with a selvedge edge whilst the short sides are cut to intentionally fray over time and with washing. This is a traditional technique and helps the tenugui to dry quickly.
