Out of his workshop and studio in Fukuoka, Japan, Keisuke Mihataya embodies ‘tsukuru’, meaning ‘to create’. Keisuke saws, planes, whittles, chisels, waxes and lacquers wood with great precision and attention to detail. Each piece celebrates the material, creating functional homewares to enjoy the natural beauty of wood every day.

The chrysanthemum, or kiku in Japanese, is a symbol that represents longevity and rejuvenation and is a traditional shape for Japanese plates.

Made from beautiful Japanese tamo ash, this side plate is ideal for sweet treats or trinkets.
