Socks so snuggly yet rugged you’re going to want to marry them, go on a walking honeymoon somewhere cold and have fluffy little sock babies together.

They’re made by Syn Project in Nagano, Japan. This mountainous region has a rich culture of walking, and is home to the Samurai Nakasendo Trail, the ancient route from Edo Tokyo to Kyoto.

This tradition is sewn into every pair, embracing the brand’s philosophy of connecting with nature, and the value of a good walk for a healthy mind and body. Using centuries of walking wisdom, they’re designed and woven to expertly wrap and support the feet, protecting them from impact and reducing fatigue.

This washi style is designed for walking around the city: constructed from a blend of absorbent Japanese washi paper and cotton for lightness, sweat absorption and breathability, with lightly piled soles for cushioning. While paper is considered a disposable material in the West, washi paper is revered in Japan for its durability and strength. It naturally absorbs moisture and is combined with cotton for softness on the skin.

Perfect for a weekend promenade, or for powering through the streets in the week.

Feet size flexible, approx. 26-28cm or UK 7.5 to 9.5. Made in Japan. Materials: 35% cotton, 35% Japanese washi paper, 25% polyester, 4% polyurethane, 1% nylon.
