Long Rankaku Incense Holder
£49
Based in Taiwan, design studio Yenchen & Yawen explore the effect of time on unusual material combinations. When craft meets chemistry, the results are beautiful serendipity.
This incense holder comes from their Landscape of Oxidation collection. Inspired by the Japanese eggshell inlaying technique ‘rankaku’, jesmonite mixed with iron oxide is left to evolve over time.
Embracing the inherently unstable process of iron patination, each object is unique and captures the beauty of a fleeting moment of deterioration.
Measures approx. 16cm long. Designed to reflect the passing of time, the piece may change colour slightly with age.
Presented in a gift box and tissue paper.
