White Kintsugi Brooch
£25
Based in Taiwan, design studio Yenchen & Yawen explore the effect of time on unusual material combinations. When craft meets chemistry, the results are beautiful serendipity.
This brooch comes from their Landscape of Oxidation collection. Influenced by the philosophy and aesthetic of Kintsugi, which treats breakage and repair as part of the history of an object, rather than something to disguise, they’ve created a new casting method to repair cracked jesmonite with bronze powder.
Each brooch is unique and captures the beauty of a fleeting moment of repair.
With a gold plated pin.
Measures approx. 45mm long. Designed to reflect the passing of time, the piece may change colour slightly with age. Handmade, each piece will vary slightly and may not exactly match the shape or pattern in the image.
Presented in a velvet pouch.
