Kamisaka Sekka was one of the first artists to combine modernist Western and Japanese aesthetics in his work. His pieces were painted over 100 a years ago but look thoroughly contemporary even today.
Furuya Korin’s iconic woodblock textile prints were originally intended for Kyoto kimono makers at the turn of the 20th Century. They have gone on to influence and inspire generations of textile designers ever since.
