Araki Tokyo Blues 1977
£45
“Women, men, and the city are all protagonists. They all perform and live. They perform as best they can to live.”
A series of work by Nobuyoshi Araki originally for a solo exhibition at Nikon Salon in 1977. After the exhibition, these works remained untouched in Araki’s storeroom until their rediscovery and feature in ‘Tokyo Blues 1977’, held at Taka Ishii Gallery in August 2013.
This softcover photobook includes 43 photographs loosely centered about a woman from Kyushu whom Araki had just met, capturing the languidness and blues of Japan in the 1970’s through Araki’s idiosyncratic frame.
