A truly unique piece of jewellery, made by the Nozomi Project in Japan.
The charm is made from a fragment of china featuring red and peach flowers. 'Shigeri' is a Japanese term describing the abundance of summertime.
‘Nozomi’ means 'hope' in Japanese. Established in the wake of the 2011 earthquake and tsunami, the Nozomi Project is a social venture situated in Ishinomaki that instructs and employs locals in jewellery making. Pottery that was destroyed in the earthquake is given new life by the artists who turn it into unique and special pieces of jewellery.
Each piece embraces the Japanese philosophy of wabi-sabi: there is beauty to be found in the broken.
The chain and ornate bezel are 24k gold plated.
Length approx. 6.5 inches. Fastens with a spring ring clasp so can be extended up to 2 inches.
Gift wrapped in tissue paper
