Komainu Embroidered Patch
£8
A sew or iron-on patch made by a traditional embroidery atelier in Kyoto, Japan.
Komainu are Japan’s mythical lion dogs, a symbol of protection for homes and temples. This guy is also wearing a bamboo basket on his head, thought to protect children from the spirit of bad tempers. The komainu with a basket represents laughter and happiness within a household.
If ironing, use a cotton cloth in-between the patch and the iron and be careful with heat-sensitive materials.
Gift wrapped in tissue paper
