Akai Hana Gold Necklace
£95
This item is currently out of stock
A piece of jewellery that is truly unique, made by the Nozomi Project in Japan.
The charm is made from a fragment of china featuring 'akai hana', a red carnation. The chain and ornate mount are 24k gold plated.
‘Nozomi’ means 'hope' in Japanese. Established in the wake of the 2011 earthquake and tsunami, the Nozomi Project is a social venture situated in Ishinomaki that instructs and employs locals in jewellery making.
Each piece embraces the Japanese philosophy of wabi-sabi: there is beauty to be found in the broken. Pottery that was destroyed in the earthquake is given new life by the artists who turn it into unique and special pieces of jewellery.
Chain length approx. 32 inches plus the charm. Fastens with a spring ring clasp so it can be shortened.
Presented In a velvet pouch
