Storied Magazine Volume Two: The Islands
£14
A new coffee table magazine inspired by the people, places, crafts, and culture of Japan.
Issue two takes you on a trip across the length and breadth of Japan, by way of the sheltered bays of the Shima Peninsula, Sado Island gold mine and Naoshima art island in the Seto Inland Sea.
The journey continues to Amami Oshima where artisans work with local resources – from a workshop using iron rich mud to dye fabrics in rich earthy tones, to a woodworker using off-cuts from the forestry industry to craft sumptuous vases. Plus introducing the Ama women of the ocean, pearl and food divers who don’t need scuba gear or air tanks. Badass.
