Vintage patterns to cut and sew your own version of these Japanese jackets. The Happi is a shopcoat traditionally worn by storekeepers, craftsmen and firemen over western-style clothing. This particular pattern is based on an original firefighter’s jacket. The Haori is worn on more special occasions and often layered over a kimono.

These styles have become big in Japanese streetwear and reinterpreted by designers including Yohji Yamamoto.

Comes presented in a Japanese-style sewn paper bag.

Happi: sized for women bust size 30 to 44 inches, and for men chest size 34 to 44 inches. Simple rectangles form the body, sleeves, neckband, and shoulder reinforcement for this unlined, fingertip-length garment.

Haori: sized for women, bust size 30- 40 inches, with a straight front opening and a finished neckband which extends to the hem.

Instructions are in English. Please note, as vintage patterns, the cover packaging may be slightly worn.

Presented in a Japanese paper rice bag.
